Hi. My name is Roope.
In Finnish, Roope. Today, I’m guest vlogging for EF and
I’m telling you why you should study abroad. I was studying in the United… I was studying in the U.S.A! I was studying there for a while and
I learned quite a lot of new things there such as the point of view of the country, the experience, you know, in general, everything
while I was there, and the language. So, right now, I speak pretty fluent English.
Not perfect, but pretty fluent. I assume you all understand me fine. So, knowing the English language gives
me great opportunities for the future: For my job, for my YouTube career, for everything. English is THE language of the world, so it’s
just a great advantage – a leverage maybe. So… So! So, the point of view of the country:
The things that are normal in the U.S., and aren’t in the rest of
the world – or in my country. So, one thing was how they dressed up.
I feel like everyone dressed up so badly. I don’t know why, but that’s just my opinion. Another thing was that they kept
butter outside the fridge. Why? Anyway, we don’t, so that
was kind of weird for me. But something that I really
liked was the small talk. The small talk is literally
the best thing in the U.S. You go to a store: Hi! Hi! How are you? I’m great, how are you? I’m great. Alright, have a good one. You, too! That’s the conversation!
In Finland, you go to a store … And you leave the store. Another thing I love in the U.S. is the fast food. It is so much better and the
drinks are three times bigger! The weather, where I was, is perfect.
It’s so much warmer than here. It’s like 35 degrees. And the gas was so cheap. It’s just crazy. What I learned there, what I experienced … I became a lot more polite while I was there.
Seriously, because I feel like everyone is so much more polite to you,
at least, in the first place. And I became mentally older. I had to
start taking more responsibility for things. There was no one to count on, basically,
so I had to take care of my own stuff. And, one more thing is… I became more aware of the situation.
Always. I started to think, what if that happens?
What will I do if some other people think I … Woah, wait, that was really complicated.
But, you know what I’m saying. I became more aware of things,
so I started to think about that. I had a great time while I was there. I’m definitely suggesting
that you go to study abroad. It’s a great advantage, a great
opportunity to see the world and see the differences
between that country and your own. I’m telling you to go if you have a chance.
I am saying thank you right now. And I think it was kind of
fun to film this video. So, see you next time!
