Transitions – A New Meaning to “The Boys of Fall”

Transitions – A New Meaning to “The Boys of Fall”

With the prep football season now
complete it is time for us to name our 13th annual sports jam football team.
We’re taking the ball first so here’s the 2010 offense. Our Center is
Armstrong’s number 54 Cal Ness. The senior was a two-year starter for the
Falcons with Ryan Bartlett said Armstrong ran 70% of their plays behind
the 6-foot 240 pounder Ness was an integral part of an offense than
averaged nearly 150 yards rushing per game Football happens in the fall there’s
nothing like it there’s nothing like being there with all the leaves changing
colors around you in a stadium and and doing what you do best. I really only
went to college to play football. I’ll be honest. You know I really had no other
intention of being there I wasn’t a student in high school. I wasn’t a
student in college. Even though I did better than in high school but football was
what it was all about He would play football all the time and justlaser-focused into it It’s all he ever wanted to do was talk about football
throw the football I mean it was, it was really annoying so then he went off to RCTC I came to
watch him play a game and he got a lot of playing time and you know it’s really
fun to watch him in a college setting do that and then he quit and he just he was
a lot different you know he didn’t have that laser focus so I mean it was just
it was weird to see Cal like that leaving football for different reasons
obviously hurt me you know there was personal stuff going on and I felt like
my heart wasn’t in it anymore but football was my heart so when I left
there was this gaping for a few years until I started duck hunting duck Duck hunting replaced that. It’s in the fall. There’s nothing like getting up at 4:00
in the morning and seeing your best friend’s your brothers being ready to go
out there and do what you do best really It changed my life you know now that he’s duck hunting
it’s like that laser focus is back and it’s fun to see a guy transform from never
duck hunting never really being out door guy to all of a sudden just he just
wants to go back outside and do everything there. Came on the blind.
It was late season last year Joey and I were just in this spot right over here
same exact area and right at the migration things are starting to move
things are happening but came out and there was not really an opportunity for
us to shoot a lot of birds because these birds are just screaming but those are
the best days anyways because when you hear five thousand birds fly over your
head it literally sounds like a plane is flying over you it’s just insane there’s
absolutely nothing like it you don’t even need to pull the trigger you know
sometimes there’s literally so many birds you just sit there just put your
gun down and watch. It’s amazing every true water follower will
understand the difference be tween a weekend warrior and a true passionate
waterflower. Cal is one of those true passionate waterflowers
