Top 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Colin Kaepernick! (NFL)

Colin Rand Kaepernick was selected 36th overall
in the 2011 NFL Draft. EverythingTop10 is proud to present, “The
Top 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Colin Kaepernick!” #10. Kaepernick was born in 1987 in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, to Heidi Russo, a 19-year-old who was single at the time. His birth father, an African-American man,
left Russo before Colin was born. Russo placed Colin for adoption with Rick
and Teresa Kaepernick, a white couple who had two children–son Kyle and daughter Devon–and
were looking for a boy after losing two other sons to heart defects. Kaepernick became the youngest of their three
children. He lived in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, until
age four, and attended grade school in Turlock, California. #9. When he was eight years old, he began playing
youth football as a defensive end and punter. He then became his youth team’s starting
quarterback at age nine, and he completed his first competitive pass for a long touchdown. A 4.0 GPA student at John H. Pitman High School
in Turlock, California, he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was nominated for All-State selection in
all three sports his senior year. #8. Kaepernick was the MVP of the Central California
Conference in football, leading his school to its first-ever playoff victory. In basketball, he was a first-team all CCC
selection at forward and led his 16th-ranked team to a near upset of #1 ranked Oak Ridge
High School in the opening round of the playoffs. In that game, Kaepernick scored 34 points,
but Ryan Anderson of Oak Ridge scored 50 points to beat Pitman. #7. Kaepernick achieved most of his accolades
in high school as a baseball pitcher and received several scholarship offers in that sport,
yet he desperately wanted to play college football. He was almost 6ʹ5ʺ as a senior, but weighed
only 170 pounds and his coaches generally kept him from running the ball to limit his
risk of injury. He also had poor throwing mechanics, despite
his strong arm. #6. During his junior year, Larry Nigro, Pitman’s
head coach at the time, made a highlight tape that Kaepernick’s brother, Kyle, copied
to DVD, then sent to about 100 Football Bowl Subdivision programs. Kaepernick received some interest, but no
scholarship offers. #5. Even as a senior, Kaepernick received little
attention from FBS schools. Although the University of Nevada, Reno coaching
staff frequently watched video of his high school team, no one from the Nevada Wolf Pack
football staff came to Turlock to see him play during his senior football season. Nevada head coach Chris Ault decided to offer
him a scholarship after one of his assistants, Barry Sacks, saw Kaepernick dominate a high
school basketball game on an evening where he was suffering from a fever of 102 °F.
Nevada was the only school to offer him a football scholarship, but was concerned that
he would opt for baseball until he signed in February 2006. #4. He was a two-time California all-state baseball
player and was listed as a draftable prospect on MLB’s website in the class of 2006. He earned Northern California athlete of the
week honors as a pitcher. As a senior in high school, he threw a 92-mph
fastball as reported during his first college football start in 2007 against Boise State. In his senior year of high school, he had
an ERA of 1.265 with 13 starts and 10 complete games. He finished the year with an 11-2 record with
97 strikeouts and 39 walks. In the 2009 MLB Draft, he was selected in
the 43rd round by the Chicago Cubs. He decided that he wanted to continue to play
football at the University of Nevada, Reno and chose not to sign with the Cubs. #3. In Kaepernick’s senior season at the University
of Nevada, Reno, he became the first player in NCAA history to have over 2,000 yards passing
and 1,000 yards rushing for three consecutive seasons. He is the only quarterback in the history
of Division I FBS college football to have passed for over 10,000 yards and rushed for
over 4,000 yards in a collegiate career. He graduated from the University of Nevada,
Reno in December 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in business management and is a member
of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. #2. In the 49ers’ final 2016 preseason game
on September 1, 2016, Kaepernick opted to kneel during the U.S. national anthem rather
than sit as he did in their previous games. He explained his decision to switch was an
attempt to show more respect to former and current U.S. military members while still
protesting during the anthem, after having a conversation with former NFL player and
U.S. military veteran Nate Boyer. #1. In the following weeks, Kaepernick’s jersey
became the highest-selling jersey on NFLShop.com. An NFL fan poll was taken during the beginning
of the 2016 NFL season, and he was voted the most disliked player in the NFL; this poll
was polarized, with 37% of Caucasians disliking him “a lot”, and 42% of African-Americans
liking him “a lot.” That’s all folks! Make sure you tune in next week for part 2

  • Everybody knows all this. Every time I watch one of these videos on Kaepernick, I'm thinking I'll hear something new that I haven't already heard, but it's the sos. And to answer the last question, I wouldn't be watching this video if I didn't like Kaepernick.

  • I LOVE HIM! he has "balls". he has talent. he has a social conscience and the character to back it up with action. he's a fearless ambassador of justice. he's getting a raw deal. and by coincidence, i just happen to be watching this video as i'm wearing (PROUDLY) the kaepernick jersey for the first time that i ordered. i look forward to part 2!

  • Number 0. His dad left before he was born. This created a birth certificate without a signature. This constitutes a bastard child and gained the financial responsibility of the state until he was adopted. where oh where did the black Ghana guy go? He is a very wealthy man now in dollars but broke when it comes to moral fiber. If brains were dynamite the guy could not blow his nose.

  • So his black father abandoned him like an old condom, so he was loved and raised by white people whom he now hates? Somebody tell him he's barely black?

  • Kaepernick, may you live in infamy knowing that you intentionally mixed sports with politics to prove a point and influence weak minds against America, that also caused the NFL to go bankrupt!

  • BrokenTree Usauka says:

Ah Kapernick, a walking study of what not to do. This guy had it all, a mega contract and a life that promised to be full of wonder and magic…….until his little head started to do all his thinking for him. ( For God's sake-someone legalize prostitution so we can save all these boys!) He meets his current girlfriend and all the wonder and magic turns into a cesspool of extreme under performance on the field along with cries of brutality and racism. As a quarterback with a sweet deal, he suddenly turns himself into a flash in the pan and gets benched. Not to out do himself, he (or she) decides that kneeling during the national anthem, to protest brutality and racism by cops, who are willy nilly killing people of color because, you know, they can. Never mind those bothersome statistics that show that whites get whacked by cops more than said people of color. (It's interesting to note that the subject Chicago never came up where blacks are killing blacks and some whites in appalling numbers well beyond the national average but I won't mention that). This looked like too much fun not to share, so other NFL players decided to kneel too. This turned out to be incredibly bad timing to piss on Old Glory as it occurred during an incredible surge of US patriotic and nationalist fervor of "Make America Great Again" after the election of Donald Trump. Just to add to this stinking pile of pissed on flags, Kapernick decides to piss on that sweet, sweet contract and nullify it, to become a free agent and test the NFL waters on whatever else might be out there. It turns out that the pool was full of sharks.

But wait a minute! What do you mean that NO teams are throwing themselves at Kapernick's feet? That's RACIST, god damn it! Let''s protest that too! Why is it that no one is offering him a dream job you ask? It couldn't be that there are a lot of free agent quarterbacks out there hammering away at locked doors, could it? It certainly can't be all the media circus garbage following him around like vultures circling a fresh kill? And it certainly can't be that he turned into a lousy, under performing quarter back? No, it can't be that a record numbers of people are boycotting the game and burning jerseys just because the NFL collectively pissed on the American flag. Or is it that Kapernick became an internet meme that the NFL is suffering from "Colin Cancer?" Damn it, it has to RACISM! Come on now, Kapernick is a good guy. Just look at all the money he donated to Black Lives Matter, a "stellar" organization, after all. ( I won't even mention that they have advocated the murder of policemen, of ANY color, and random white people). I am positive that he will give them his house too, free of charge of course.

Poor Kap and he's a genius who graduated from a school district of grades 1 through 12 with a 4.0 GPA which is astounding. Believe me, when ALL your tests are multiple choice, that's like, hard. He was a sports star too in baseball, basketball AND football. He's smart and athletic you ask? There is a rumor going around that he could also…..walk on water. He wants to play college football and them move on to the pros to possibly play with his dream team of the San Francisco 49's. (Maybe it's a good idea to forget what I said about his pissing on that sweet contract with the 49's). Sad to say but none of the big name schools will offer him a scholarship unless it's for baseball. For the love of God, the Cubs want him. But, no, it's football or nothing. Luckily, (which is ironic as all hell to say about Las Vegas), the University of Las Vegas wants him. (Is that even a sanctioned school?) The MIghty Kap graduates and gets his dream job AND…..just go over paragraph one again.

So, has Kap become a poison commodity in the NFL? Have their fans turned their backs on an organization of sub par teams battling for a small chance of getting a playoff game? Could it be that the fans are angry that he turned the NFL into a political protest at his job when they can't do the same at theirs? Or could it be that when he and his cohorts pissed on the flag that they splashed it on all of the veterans? It just might be those socks that depicted the police as pigs. I wonder if one of these kneelers were being beaten and robbed, if they call the police for help and the cops tell them "Call your drug dealer. He's probably got a gun on him." Or could it be that his girlfriend convinced him that he was a god he could make a mighty, political statement on the great platform that is the NFL? That he could quit his dream job and instantly have tons of money and contracts thrown at him? Hold the phone damn it! It seems that the great platform was full of termites. As for myself, I'd give him twenty bucks to wash my car when the money runs out. But, please, take your pick, it's multiple choice you know.

  • Funny how fucking racist colin is considering…..the only people that gave a shit about him and put him in position to make something out of himself before he was famous were white.

  • Fuck this guy go away who cares .. wasted his career for people who wouldn’t do the same for him or their own families..foolish
