The Benefits of Youth Sports

The Benefits of Youth Sports

Hi and welcome to the Sport Court News
Network, I’m Elora Murray. Thanks for joining us. Today we are talking about all the amazing
benefits of kids participating in sports. Some health benefits include becoming
physically fit, learning fine motor skills, a reduced risk of developing type-two diabetes,
reduced risk of heart disease, cancer and stroke and sports can also help kids build
healthy bones, muscles and joints. Not only are there numerous health benefits in youth
sports participation but there are plenty of social benefits as well. Some of these
benefits include building leadership skills, stronger peer relationships, better self-esteem
and greater confidence and character. And we aren’t done with talking about youth
sports benefits quite yet; other benefits include higher test scores, less smoking,
reduced stress and depression and youth that
participate in sports are less likely to engage in illegal behaviors. In addition, childhood
sports participation predicts physical fitness in adulthood. In fact, 77 percent of adults
30 and over who play sports did so as children. So basically, sports activities for children
offer not just health benefits but social and psychological benefits as well — benefits
which extend long into adulthood. That’s it for our newscast today. Once again, I’m
Elora Murray and thanks for joining us at the Connor Sport Court News Network. Have
a great day.
