Radford University’s new Student Recreation and Wellness Center, conveniently located next to the Bonnie Student Center, provides the university community with a state of the art recreation and wellness facility. This new facility just completed in Fall 2014, houses fitness, active recreation, and wellness spaces designed to help students live healthy lifestyles. The 110,000 square-foot center is home to gymnasium courts, raquetball courts, and more than 15,000 square feet of free-weights, strength training and cardio fitness space. It also offers multiple group exercise rooms, one multi-activity court, a cycling studio, and is the new home to RU Outdoors. Three full-size basketball courts also serve intramurals, drop-in basketball, volleyball, indoor soccor, and badmitton. The multi-activity court can also be used for large gatherings or major student activities. One of the most unique features is the sloped jogging and walking track, which provides a grade climb and fall of one story and offers stunning views of campus. My favorite part of the facility is the track, because I like to do a lot of running workouts, and it’s really cool because there are plenty of windows around the whole track, so I get to see outside even though I’m running inside. So it’s really nice to get that cool overhead view of campus even though I’m in here doing a running workout.
