Sand Hog

Sand Hog

John: Well, there are really rewards in doing
that climb because the overlook at the western side of that Sandhog
Mountain is spectacular. You really can look out and see a number of natural
lakes and mine lakes and at sunset it’s unbelievable… well
worth the climb, and then you have a really well-designed
flowy well bermed downhill that goes on
and on until you finally outlet at a trail complex. A lot of folks that are at the
retirement age kind of wonder whether mountain biking is something they can do
and I have seen a number of people in their sixties and seventies out here who are just having a great time and
it’s all about knowing your level of ability… being prepared, wearing
a helmet, having the right bike and being aware of the trail system
because there is a lot of trails here that everybody can ride and people of all ages can ride and you’re going to get a great
experience and you’re going to get a bit of a workout. I think the biggest
thing to remember is there is no contest, get off the bike and walk the bike when
you feel you need to and only go on the trails you feel
comfortable riding and practice the trails you feel comfortable with numerous times before
you go on.
