Rules for recreational pot business in Massachusetts

Rules for recreational pot business in Massachusetts

KARE HERE ON BROADWAY IN
SOMERVILLE, REVOLUTIONARY
CLINICS DOORS ARE OPEN FOR
MEDICAL MARIJUANA SALES.>>IF YOU WANT TO SMELL THIS
ONE, WE OPEN THAT UP. KAREN: MATT IS A REVOLUTIONARY
CLINIC PATIENT ADVOCATE. HERE ARE SAMPLES OF DIFFERENT
TYPES OF MARIJUANA FLOWERS FOR
PEOPLE TO SMELL AND EDIBLE
PRODUCTS INFUSED WITH CANNABIS
OIL FOR PEOPLE TO SEE.>>THE OLIVE OIL IS GREAT
BECAUSE IT IS SO VERSATILE. YOU CAN DO IT IN A LOT OF
DIFFERENT STUFF. SALAD DRESSING, ON POPCORN.>>ALL OF THEM CAN HELP YOU WITH
MEDICAL PROBLEMS. WHEN WE CAME UP WIT
RECREATIONAL, IT IS THE SAME
PRODUCT LINE REALLY. MARIA: THE CEO — KAREN: THE CEO
SAYS THEY WILL BE APPLYING FOR
LICENSES RIGHT HERE IN THE SAME
BUILDING FOR RECREATIONAL
MARIJUANA. WILL BE DIFFERENT IN A
RECREATIONAL STORE?>>A LITTLE MORE JAZZY, COOL. PEOPLE CAN HANG OUT FOR A WHILE
IF THEY WANT TO. KAREN: AS A MEDICAL MARIJUANA
DISPENSARY, REVOLUTIONARY
CLINICS IS A PRIORITY APPLICANT
FOR A LICENSE TO SELL
RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA. THAT IS ACCORDING TO THE
JUST-RELEASED REGULATIONS FROM
THE CANNABIS CONTROL COMMISSION,
THE FIVE PERSON PANEL THAT
WORKED OVER THE LAST SIX MONTHS
TO CREATE 102 PAGES OF RULES FOR RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA IN
MASSACHUSETTS.>>ON THIS TOPIC WHAT I HAVE
LEARNED IS IT IS VERY
COMPLICATED. KAREN: STEVE HOFFMAN IS THE
CHAIR OF THE CANNABIS CONTROL
COMMISSION.>>IT CAN MAKE A DIVERSE
INDUSTRY IN TERMS OF FOR MORE
WOMEN, VETERANS, MINORITIES. WE WANTED TO MAKE IT DIVERSE IN
TERMS OF BIG PLAYERS AND SMALL
PLAYERS. KAREN: HOFFMAN SAYS THE GOAL WAS
BALANCED, TO LISTEN TO THE WILL
OF THE VOTERS WHO PASS THE
BALLOT QUESTION WHILE KEEPING
SAFEGUARDS IN PLACE TO PROTECT
PUBLIC SAFETY AND HEALTH. REGULATIONS SAY THE COMMITTEE
PLANS TO SEND IN UNDERCOVER
SECRET SHOPPERS TO POSE AS
CUSTOMERS AND MAKE SURE
RETAILERS ARE PLAYING BY THE
RULES. THESE WARNING LABELS MUST BE ON
ALL PRODUCTS SOLD.>>I THINK MOST OF WHAT
REGULATIONS WE HAVE ARE THE
LICENSING PROCESS AND THE
REQUIREMENTS OF BACKGROUND
CHECKS, FINGERPRINTING, CRIMINAL
RECORD EXAMINATION, SO WE ARE GOING TO ENSURE THAT THE PEOPLE
THAT PARTICIPATE IN THIS
INDUSTRY ARE PEOPLE THAT ARE
UPSTANDING CITIZENS THAT
ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO POTENTIALLY
RUN A BUSINESS. KAREN: ANOTHER MISSION OF THE
REGULATION’S ACCORDING TO THE
LAW WAS TO BE INCLUSIVE,
INCLUDING THOSE SENT TO JAIL IN
THE WAR ON DRUGS.>>IF YOU LOOK AT THE WAR ON
DRUGS, IN PARTICULAR MARIJUANA
ARRESTS AND INCARCERATION, THERE
IS A GERMAN THIS DISPARITY IN
TERMS OF WHO IS INCARCERATED
BECAUSE OF MARIJUANA OFFENSES. IT TENDS TO BE INSERTED CERTAIN
COMMUNITIES AND MINORITY GROUPS
SO WE ARE TRYING VERY HARD TO
WEEK OUT TO PEOPLE SO THEY
UNDERSTAND FIRST OF ALL THE
OPPORTUNITIES ARE.>>I HOPE TO HAVE A MARIJUANA
BUSINESS. KAREN: SEAN WAS CONVICTED IN
FEDERAL COURT OF MANUFACTURING
MORE THAN 100 MARIJUANA PLANTS
AND SERVED EIGHT MONTHS IN
PRISON. NOW HE COULD HAVE PRIORITY AS AN
ACTIVE FOR A RECREATIONAL
MARIJUANA LICENSE.>>I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY. IT HAS GIVEN MY LIFE
POST-INCARCERATION SOME VALUE. FOR A LONG TIME, WE WERE
CONSIDERED CRIMINALS. PEOPLE DEALING IN THE
UNREGULATED MARKET. THIS IS VINDICATION.>>WHEN I WENT TO PRESENT, IT
SLOWED ME DOWN AND GIVE ME AN
OPPORTUNITY TO REINVEST IN
MYSELF. JEREMY THOMPSON HAS MARIJUANA —
KAREN: JEREMY THOMPSON HAS
MARIJUANA CHARGES ON HIS RECORD
AND WAS CHARGED WITH A GUN
CHARGE AND DISTRIBUTION OF
COCAINE. SINCE HE GOT OUT OF JAIL, HE
SAYS HE HAS BEEN OUT OF THE
CRIME BUSINESS AND ADVOCATING
FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE, BUT UNDER
THE NEW REGULATIONS, HIS FELONY
CONVICTIONS EXCLUDING THEM FROM GETTING IN MARIJUANA LICENSE. HE IS HOPING TO APPEAL.>>IT IS DISHEARTENING HONESTLY
BECAUSE I LOOK AT THIS AS AN
OPPORTUNITY FOR ME TO STABILIZE
MY FAMILY, MAYBE BECOME A
HOMEOWNER. THIS WILL BE A BILLION-DOLLAR
INDUSTRY RIGHT HERE IN
MASSACHUSETTS. KAREN: THE CHAIRMAN OF THE GET
OF A SAYS REGULATIONS ARE NOT
WRITTEN IN STONE.>>THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE A
MATURE INDUSTRY ON DAY ONE. WE WILL NOT HAVE GOTTEN
EVERYTHING RIGHT, AND WE WILL
ADJUST. KAREN: DOORS CAN BEGIN SELLING
ON JULY 1, BUT DO NOT EXPECT TO
SEE YOU AROUND THE STATE FOR
SALE RIGHT AWAY. THE REALITY IS ALL CITIES AND
TOWNS HAVE A FINAL SAY ON WHAT
HAPPENS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES
SOMEHOW ALREADY BANNED MARIJUANA
BUSINESSES. OTHERS LIKE HERE IN CAMBRIDGE
ARE DECIDING HOW TO MOVE FORWARD
NOW THAT A FINAL REGULATIONS ARE
OUT.>>THE PEOPLE HAVE CAMBRIDGE —
OF CAMBRIDGE HAVE SPOKEN LOUD
AND CLEAR THAT THIS IS SOMETHING
THEY SUPPORT. KAREN: MARK MCGOVERN SAYS THERE
IS A LOT OF WORK AHEAD TO CREATE
POLICY THAT WORKS.>>THE QUESTION BECOMES OF THE
DETAILS SO PEOPLE CAN BE
SUPPORTIVE OF IT WHEN THEY VOTE,
BUT WHEN YOU WANT TO OPEN A SHOP
THAT IS TWO DOORS DOWN FROM
WHERE THEY LIVE, YOU KNOW, THAT BECOMES A DIFFERENT ISSUE
KAREN: THE LEADER EXPECTS TO SEE
STORES OPENING BY EARLY FALL. REVOLUTIONARY CLINICS. INTO STORES IN CAMBRIDGE. HOW DO YOU FEEL THINKING THIS
ISN’T GOING TO BE A REALITY FOR
RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA IN
MASSACHUSETTS?>>IT IS SOMETHING GREAT THAT
SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE YEARS AGO
SO I AM I AM ALIVE TO SEE IT
HAPPENING. ED: SO HERE ARE THINGS NOT IN
THE REGULATIONS RIGHT NOW,
MARIJUANA BARS AND CAFES,
DELIVERY SERVI

  • They need to pay reparations to those imprisoned for simple possession. This state is a bunch of money grubbing thugs.

  • They should have just legalized it and freed it. It should be sold beside a pack of cigarettes. Cigarettes, the device that kills 477,000 per year and has 13 million sick a year. Not marijuana, cigarettes. Yet cigarettes have the government seal

  • The Government Needs to run pot !!!!!! That way it is regulated equal to Alcohol ,,
If your caught growing pot for intent to sell say over a pound of plant growth you get 5 years and the Dept of revenue confiscated your property on tax evasion charges..
Sam as Alcohol and Cigarettes or any Tobacco bootlegging.
In Washington State if u have a POT DWI and u are on your 3rd u get a 5 year suspended license ,
CRIME in wa State since legalisation is up 51.5 percent in SeattLe .
Hit and run Drivers on pot UP 30%
