I’m Shari Lichterman, Director of Recreation.
Providing citizens the opportunity to live vibrant, healthy, active lifestyles is a core
focus for us in Recreation. We offer year-round, affordable and inclusive recreational programs for all ages and abilities. Our team manages and operates: community centres, indoor and outdoor pools, golf courses and ice pads. Along with other amenities that citizens can access for sport, leisure and recreational use. We also operate the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, hosting major events such as the
Ontario Summer Games, Carrasauga and home to the Raptors
905 and Mississauga Steelheads. Our programs and services support residents
across the city, from youth to older adults, keeping them healthy, engaged and active in
the community. We support ongoing business and community partnerships, leverage grant and funding opportunities and stay focused on the needs of our citizens. Recreation is committed to annually reviewing its budget to identify cost savings and efficiencies and to using technology to improve
how we deliver our services. We are continually finding new and innovative ways to generate revenue, reduce operating costs, be more efficient and focus on environmental best practices.
