MCR | Therapeutic Recreation

Therapeutic Recreation basically comes
down to providing activities and programs for individuals with
disabilities in the community. You want everybody
to be out to enjoy all the facilities and programs and parks that anybody else would do. We do social skill development, fitness and wellness, we have therapeutic recreation and aquatics, and a lot of adaptive programs and and smaller structure. Smaller staff ratio to participants. We believe in the first hand training
from an experienced staff. We give our staff as much information as
possible up front. We do everything from sign
language interpreters, we have um, companions, things at our
pool like lifts, chair lifts that will actually help a
lot of individuals with physical disabilities. Somebody needs braille or large print we’ll do any of those kind of accomodations to help out. I take in the morning the Zumba and also the Turn the Beat Around which
is the second class. I have teachers showing me different moves. So I’m learning. Well, I’m punching and kicking and exercising. It’s been such a great day and I’m really liking it. The discipline and being able to function in a group of people is uh, worth its weight in
gold frankly. Every time that you get out
there in the community and you participate in these events it just helps their personal development
and their interactions with people and in class at school. I will bring him as long as these types of
programs are offered. It’s easy to sign up once you register
it’s really simple to to register for classes and there’s a
lot of things going on during the week or the weekend. It’s really great that we get to have
kids through adults and watch them grow and it’s fantastic.
