LNBA – Intensity

[Show Theme Music]>>Even though wins and losses aren’t recorded, the players take the game more seriously than you can imagine.>>I think, in the end, the games were tight if the teams were evenly, uh, spread. Uh… there was no question, everybody wanted to win but there were uh.. times when the game was stepped up a bit, you might say. And you know there might be an elbow here or a push there and so forth and nothing terribly nasty and… As I recall, I don’t think anybody ever came to blows with anybody else.>>I would say that.. I mean it did get pretty serious. Umm… You know most of the core group of guys
are there all the time. It’s their outlet, their way of, I think, still playing like a competitive sport and — and being active.>>They take it pretty seriously and there is uh.. some guys that, certainly take it more seriously than others. But uh.. There have been some scrapes, you know, I mean, every once in a while and… it always work itself out but uh.. You know, guys have gotten into it… Umm.. You know if you have got a hard foul or somebody is calling something and you don’t agree with them, So it’s– It’s pretty intense.>>That certainly was exemplified in in sometimes in the little NBA If the game was tied and uh…. everybody felt really good, Uh, you would see the.. the level of the games step up a bit, it wasn’t any more about just getting exercise it was about exercise and winning and then reminded you of [laughs] reminding everybody else, you gonna come tomorrow, as if saying, you want some more of this. So there was a little bit of that as well.>>They take it serious, but there’s still
good nature, there’s fun nature. Picking the teams and making sure the teams are balanced and everybody gets their turn to play and and getting the right foul calls. Some of the arguments go on
for 3 or 4 or 5 minutes at times. So there is a little bit of serious
side of everything but in the end, I think it’s just all in good nature.>>Guys, I think, are always going to need games
and toys and — and playing. Uh… from the time we’re born, I think, until we’re dead Maybe the only thing that changes is the nature of the toys or the games.
