KHM Travel Agent Spotlight: Susan Becks

KHM Travel Agent Spotlight: Susan Becks

ASHLEY: A is rolling. ROBBY: Camera B is rolling. ASHLEY: You want to be our
marker? AMANDA: Okay, um, hey Susan! Hey Amanda! AMANDA: So, what, ahh AMANDA: How long have you been a travel agent,
and how did you get started with KHM? Oh gosh. SUSAN: I, um, was going to maybe get into
travel when I retired from my work, which I do the senior programs at a local
recreation center, and through that, you know, I’ve kind of learned what 55-and-better crowd loves to do within their travel. And so, that got my juices flowing
and I’ve never looked back since and I’ve been doing it for about ten months. SUSAN: I have hosted seven exchange students
from all over the world: Slovakia, Germany, Mexico, France, Kazakhstan, Poland,
you name it. It’s been all over the world and then I’ve traveled to go see them,
and of course since I’ve done that, a lot of my friends and family and people I
know have asked me to help them plan their trips, and so it kind of, before I
was a travel agent I was a travel agent. SUSAN: So I quickly jumped off, and got, I knew
that I needed the skills, the knowledge, the tools, to get me to where I wanted to
be and to give me the confidence that I needed to be able to confidently book
travel for people. So, um this today, is my second Destination Success within
less than a year, and I’m going away feeling, you know, even more confident
that this is something that I want to do, I want to be successful at, and um, I
can be successful because KHM is helping equip me with all the tools that I need. SUSAN: So by my one-year I should reach Base Camp and shortly after that I should be at Pinnacle. Yeah, yeah I’m excited. I’m so
excited! I, I, I think it’s through my love of talk, my love of reaching out to people. I’ve
just inspired people to take that leap, to, to travel, to take the risk.
I’ve given them the confidence to go out and travel beyond what they might be
comfortable with. So, I love inspiring people to do something new and different,
it’s just great. SUSAN: My goal was to get my own IATA card
and to reach, you know, at least Base Camp and I think I’ve been able to achieve
that. So, now I think it’s time to, you know, just by baby steps, keep growing, with education, with learning new ways to do things, social media all of
that. And um, you know, I, I use, I don’t wanna say use. I call and get the help, enlist
the help of KHM people all the time. I, I definitely have appreciated that and
it’s been, you know, my life. As I say, “travel is life.” So, go out and live. AMANDA: Cool, perfect. [Indistinct Audio.]
