KHM Travel Agent Spotlight – Natasha Givens


Um… Pause, I have to pause, can I pause? I just had something – what was that – I had
something to say, and I – what did you ask? Repeat the question. [Off-camera]: I was just asking, you know,
what would you tell someone – Natasha: Right, but yea. Something, I wanted to say something for sure. Oh, okay I can start over. Okay. Alright, I can start the question over. Um… ask me the question again. [Off-camera] Oh, okay. So [Laughter] [Upbeat music plays] Natasha: My name is Natasha Givens, I’m with
Blue Journeys based out of Cinncinnatti, Ohio. I started with KHM last April. Prior to that, I was with another Host Agency
for another year and a half. Pretty much unsatisfied with that agency,
it was more so of a recruiting other travel agents, like an MLM hierarchy, versus selling
travel. I’ve been traveling for years, and I’ve been
planning travel, like all of my friends’ vacations, family vacations, I was always the planner,
the go-to one, I just never had the ability to officially “book it.” And I always knew that I wanted to be a travel
agent, like, promise to goodness I had this stuff written down on like, ten years from
now what would you want to do. But I always had it listed as something that
I would get into once I retired, because I never knew about a Host Agency. I always thought travel agents were brick-and-mortar
at an actual agency. And I knew with my full-time job that I wouldn’t
be able to actually go to an actual travel agency, so once I found out about Host Agencies
and being able to do it at home, I said “oh, lemme jump into this now, I don’t have to
wait until I’m retired!” So, knowing where I came from and what my
Host Agency was offering, the second I googled to find a new Host Agency and KHM popped up,
I knew it was – I mean, you just know, like I knew in my heart that this was the agency
that I wanted to join, and just after reading through some of the reviews that were on the
site, comparing some of the information to where I was currently at, it was just basically
a no-brainer. People think that my job is easy. And, it is so not easy. You definitely have to have a passion for
it. Since I’ve done it I’ve had friends come to
me and say ‘oh, I want to be a travel agent.’ And I’m like ‘okay, I mean it’s totally fine,
but you have to love and have a passion for what you’re doing.’ You have to be on call when your clients are
on vacation. I just had a client stuck in Cancun for eight
hours scared that they weren’t even gonna be able to get a flight out that night. You have to be on call, you have to be available,
and not just – you won’t always just deal with the glory or the benefits of travel agents,
you have to be willing and receptive to all of the stuff that goes on on the back end,
like the time that it takes researching some of the packages to find the best package,
it’s not always easy but it is a very wonderful thing to do. It feels so good to get the feedback from
your clients when they come back, because you know that you put your all into it trying
to plan a great vacation for them, so when they do come back and they speak so highly
and so positive of the vacation and not just of the vacation experience they had but of
the service that I provided, it’s like a very heartwarming and – it’s a good feeling.
