KHM Travel Agent Spotlight: Brian Miller

KHM Travel Agent Spotlight: Brian Miller

Off screen: Camera “A” is rolling. We’re going to need a clapper, I think – Brian: [Laughs] I’ve got one from, uh, I’ve
got one from Disney Universal Studios, I’ll send it to you. Off screen: [Laughter] Should I do it? Yea. Brian: Well, originally, actually I started
in the travel business about 25 years ago. I was the manager of public relations for
Dollar Rent-a-Car Corporate back in the 90’s, and my job was to market to the travel agent
community. So, I had massive exposure to what it was
to be a travel agent. And the whole time I did it I said, “man,
I wish I had become a travel agent, why didn’t I do this for a career!” I actually worked with another company for
a year, and then I found KHM, and I think there were fewer than 500 agents when I first
joined. This is my 11th year with KHM. I got the 10 Year Award, I think, at the Crystal
Conference, and it really sorta woke me up to the fact that I’ve been around a long time. Part of it was I was looking for somebody
that would be willing to have me. Even though I thought I had some experience,
I really didn’t know what I was doing. And I was looking for training, and help,
and customer service from my Host Agency, to help me, you know, become a travel agent. Thank goodness I found KHM. It’s got the training I need. It’s got credibility in the industry. KHM is on the – you know, number 53 on the
Power Rankings in the Travel Industry. The Executive Team at KHM serves on the major boards
at all the travel – you know CLIA, and ASTA, and everybody that you look to for credibility
and respect in the travel industry. Everybody loves KHM because of the integrity,
and the people, and the service, and the commitment to helping you do what you need to have done. You’re just not gonna find that with anybody
else you’re gonna talk to. The personal connection. The fact that you can, whether it’s an online
chat late into the night, whether you pick up the telephone and call, whether you send
an email… I don’t know if there is a group of people
that are more service-oriented, and friendly, and willing to help, and wanting to teach,
and willing to do everything they can to make your business successful than the folks sitting
up here in Brunswick, Ohio. You know, that’s the funny thing, when you’ve
been around 11 years – I’ve been to training up here probably 3 or 4 times. I haven’t been a real high-volume producer,
this has been a part-time, side-job for me. In the last year I’ve had the opportunity
to make this my full-time job. And, that’s really kicked in and made me realize,
even more, the value and the advantages that I have. So, I attended the Crystal Conference in January,
I attended the Travel Leaders Network meeting in Orlando, now I’m here because these are
amazing opportunities for next to no cost to come up here and immerse yourself in 2
– 3 days of exposure. I know Business Development Mangers, I know
suppliers, I know people that, even a year ago, I had no real connection with. If I was on my own there’s no way in the world
I would have had the nerve or the support to say, “Yea, this is gonna become my full-time
job.” I never gave it a second thought because I
knew I had KHM behind me. As travel agents, we’re the ones that have
to be nice, and accommodating, and worried about our clients, and “what can we do to
take care of you,” with KHM you’re the only ones in the world that will do that for us. You’ve got such a customer service focus,
and you know it’s genuine. You know, you just can’t find that everywhere. And everybody cares so much, and will call
you back, and “what can we do to help you.” It’s just, uh, it’s just amazing – it’s such
a role-model, for us as travel agents to say if we can do for our clients what KHM does
for us, this will be a great way to make a bunch of money. And more importantly, have a lot of fun. Offscreen: Wow. That’s crazy. Brian: Yea, it is crazy!
