Frederico Vergueiro Costa talks about work, recreation and public space

We were talking before how recreation
gets its shape through work, as its negative. But today I see it more as
its mirrored image. We’re walking toward a future where
we’ll be interchanging positions. While I work so you can enjoy
(I’m your recreator, your cultural agent or your architect), you’re enjoying recreation
consuming what I’m offering. It seems like things are
interchanging, nowadays. No one will ever stop working and
no one will ever stop having fun. We’re talking about a zoning that is not done
on the space anymore, but on the time of things. When we assign a function to a space,
we’re paralyzing its time. Just like the street. In a street that is 10 meters wide,
only a small part belongs to the pedestrians, which means that there’s a gutter serving the car,
where the time of the car is frozen. It dominates all the time. It’s time that needs to be released.
