S MANY FISH AS POSSIBLE. IN THE SEARCH FOR STRANDED FISH, THE FEATHER RIVER BECOMES A FERRYING CHANNEL FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES AND DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE. THEY TRAVEL FROM BANK TO BANK WITH AN EYE ON MUCH SMALLER BODIES OF WATER.>>IT IS EVERY LITTLE POOR ALONG 65 MILES OF RIVER. MAX: THOSE POOLS RANGING IN SIZE FROM PUDDLES AND ACRES ARE THE HOMES OF SALMON LIKE THESE LEFT BEHIND. JUST 2500 CUBIC FEET PER SECOND OF WATER FLOWS INTO THE FEATHER RIVER TO MEET FISHERY REQUIREMENTS, WITH RELEASES COMING FROM TH DAM AND AFTER BAY RIVER OUTLET.>>WE WILL HAVE CREWS FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES TO BE IN AS MANY REPS AND POOLS AS WE CAN POSSIBLY GET. MAX: THE CREW WORKS TO PRESERVE WILDLIFE, INSURE RECREATION FOR CALIFORNIANS AND ECONOMIC CONSIDERATIONS, SUCH AS THE STATES BILLION-DOLLAR PLUS SALMON INDUSTRY.>>EVERY FISH THAT GOES DOWN COMES BACK. IT CAN BE CAUGHT AND IT CAN BE SOMEBODY’S DINNER, SOMEBODY’S FOOD IN THE RESTAURANT. EVERY FISH COUNTS FOR THAT REASON AS WELL. MAX: ONCE PULLED FROM THE POOL, THE FISH GET A CHECKUP AND A RELEASE THAT INTO THE FEATHER RIVER.
