Mont Blanc is one of the world’s most archetypal mountains. This mountain, which is the largest in Europe, has an enormous slope of snow and ice and spires that make it look like an immense natural cathedral. The summit dome of Mont Blanc provides wonderful views of the Alps. All of this creates a nearly perfect harmony. My name is Patrick Gabarrou. I’ve been a mountain guide for 40 years on the Mont Blanc massif. Mont Blanc is beautiful, it shines, it attracts you. That’s why it’s the birthplace of alpinism. I love to bring people to Mont Blanc to discover the beauty of the high mountains. People come from all over the world to fulfill their dreams of climbing the most common route on Mont Blanc. There are also very difficult things to do. The Mont Blanc massif is kind of the paradise for alpine climbing. You have really, really steep faces, technical routes. That’s what I’m looking for. My name is Ueli Steck. I’m a professional climber and I just love to be in the mountains. For me, I have the most joy if I can move fast and efficient. Especially solo climbing. You can just cruise through faces where people took days. Now it’s possible in a couple of hours. But everybody can choose his own experience on Mont Blanc. Skiing has always been my main passion. Trying to be creative about it and trying to do something different. There’s always something new to invent. Something that’s never been done before. On the Mont Blanc massif there are so many things for an alpinist to do. I come for the granite, which is exceptional here. It’s always been the rock that inspires me. It’s a moment of forgetting yourself. You’re free to act however you feel. My name is Kilian Jornet and I live in Mont Blanc area. I’m a trail runner, a ski alpinist. The thing I love the most when I’m in the mountains is to keep moving. When you move fast you discover the mountains and you discover yourself, you discover your body you discover your fears. I think it’s a big connection between the mountain and yourself. People are united in wonder at the beauty of the Mont Blanc massif. You have completely different perspective up there. It’s just beautiful. There are easy routes, hard routes, but every route is an adventure. When you are on the summit, it’s a moment full of emotions, full of joy that we keep for years. We can do exceptional, extraordinary things. But we still remain very small. Mont Blanc is much greater than we are. We will always look at this mountain with passion but also with humility.
