Dixon Recreation Center – Oregon State University

at Oregon State University. Woman: Okay, five,
four, three, two, film! Haley Fisher: Okay,
my name’s Haley Fisher. I am a junior here at
Oregon State University, and I’m majoring in History. I’m a part of Army ROTC. I’m also an RA on campus. Zach Wallace: I’m Zach Wallace. I’m a sophomore here at Oregon State. I’m majoring in Biology, and my home town is
Beaver Creek, Oregon. Haley Fisher: Dixon, here on campus, is probably where
most people congregate, like, “Hey, you wanna
go to Dixon tonight?” “Hey do you wanna go work out?” Some people will be all like, “Oh hell, no,” but for the most part, a lot of college
students here on campus, they come to Dixon, and even people from
outside of the campus and the community come to work out here. Zach Wallace: And they have a
lot of resources for you to do if you’re new to weight lifting
or exercising in general. So they have lots of cardio rooms and beginner machine
weights and even personnel who are more than happy to assist you, give you tips, or they
even have personal trainers you can sign up for and get
a few training sessions in. Zach Wallace: Now that we’re alone in the racquetball courts
together…take a look! Haley Fisher: Dixon has a lot of stuff. It has two cardio rooms,
two weight rooms, two gyms, six racquetball courts,
three squash courts, three multi-purpose
rooms, a 42 foot wall, like, tall climbing wall, 1/10th of a mile indoor
track, 25 meter pool, a dive well, a hot tub,
three sand volleyball courts, and the Outdoor Recreation Center. I just read that sucker, and that sounds like a lot. I didn’t realize there was that much. Every time I come to Dixon, I’m like, “Oh, it’s just Dixon.” Woman: Dixon Recreation Center strives to create an accessible space. The center has wheelchair accessible lifts, ramps, and entrances. There are also special
sessions and classes for individuals who participate
in wheelchair basketball, have a limited range
of mobility, and more. Please contact the office
for more information about their accessibility policies. Haley Fisher: So, Dixon’s open
from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Monday through Fridays, Saturday is 9:00 to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday’s is 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Zach Wallace: Remember,
cardio is an important part of any workout routine. [music] [END]
