CSUN Lifestyle Episode 4, Student Recreation Center

(Music) Ryan: I can definitely say you know when I
go to conference’s I found that we are the front runners when it comes to collegiate
recreation. A lot of the schools across the nation and
I can name I mean some of the schools everybody knows of so UCLA, USC, Harvard some of these really
ivy league schools they kind of see our Oasis center, and they kind of see our rec center,
and they say Wow like like CSUN in is in the front line they are the front runners of creating
spaces for their students so continuing to provide all sorts of services for our students
to succeed in the future is what I think we can continue to improve on always. Briell: what I really enjoy about the student
recreation center is just the diversity and the welcoming environment we provide we really
try our hardest to provide really great customer service so people feel like they can try our
programs, and we want to help them, and umm really create or instill something in them
that can help them be better so we really like to encourage people to live healthy lifestyles
and to not be afraid to try new things and come out and try a new exercise or something
new they can incorporate into their lives so they can be more healthy and be happy umm
I really like just the amount of umm equipment that we have here how umm there is something
for everyone to try from umm weight to machines to a pool we have racquetball and Ping-Pong
tables so even if you are not a fitness guru there are a lot of other games you can play intramurals
a lot of things you can do here that don’t necessarily umm require exercise but still
make you go outside and have fun and be active. Ryan: so the one thing we definitely provide
one thing I can definitely say is our Oasis center and our so our Oasis center provides
therapy sessions provides acupuncture provides nutrition guides and we have sleep pods down
there we have found that a lack of sleep increase stress for our student body umm very stressful
with work and school and finals so we found that the stress level of our student body
has significantly decreased when they are able to get in to our Oasis center and take
naps umm take advantage of that we have tea time down there where they can kind of get
down there and just have some tea and kind of get away from everything umm students can
make reservations down there for study for study areas to kind of have that space so
they are not necessarily crammed in the library so we got beautiful center that allow our
umm student body to continue to learn continue to better themselves as individuals umm so
they can be ready for the future. (music)
