Cocky TV: The “Gamecock Challenge”

What’s up, Gamecocks?! My name is Carson, and I’m Natalie, and we are standing right in front of the brand new Recreation and Fitness Center. It was actually finished in the Fall and opened to students here, this year, in January. It has an indoor pool, outdoor pool, coming soon; cardio and weight rooms, instructed classes, and so much more. Yeah! Today, we’re here to film our very first episode of Cocky TV of 2019, and our very first challenge is going to be the “Gamecock Challenge.” So, let’s go inside, let’s go meet our contestants, and let’s go see what our first contest is. So, our first challenge it’s going to be the “Rock Wall Challenge.” So, the “Rock Wall Challenge” consists of a person using all of their strength to get to the top of the rock wall, without slipping or falling. I’m ready for this rock wall. Climbing up and down hay bales, and jumping over fences from animals chasing me, is really going to give me the strength to pull myself up the wall. I am so stoked about that “Rock Wall Challenge,” man. I definitely vibe with my fingers when I play guitar. I think it will be righteous! All right, Gamecocks!! I’m here with “country boy,” Trent Sheffield, for the Red Team, and… [crowd cheering] That’s right, folks! I’m here with “hipster,” Mouad Mentak, for the Black Team. Hey guys, it’s going to be a crazy moment. They’re going to be climbing these rock walls and it’s just going to be insane. Let me ask you, Trent. How do you feel about this rock wall behind me? I’m not even worried about it. I’m going to get right up that wall and be home in time for some hot cobbler from my momma. There you go! Now, how’s this any different than like, the farm? It’s easier, ways easier. I can climb up twenty hay bales. There you go, twenty hay bales. Y’all, twenty hay bales. Now Mouad, how do you feel about this rock wall? Uhh well, I’m so ready. I practiced a lot in ‘Mother Nature,’ you know, and I’m already a winner, you know. I’m already a winner. He’s already a winner, he’s already a winner. Now, let me ask you.. We’re going to settle this from a game of “rock-paper-scissors,” all right? “Rock-paper-scissors.” Are you guys ready? Here we go, Gamecocks. “Rock-paper-scissors” to see what side they will start on; what wall they will go to. Ready, here we go. “Rock – paper – scissors – shoot.” Ohhh let’s give it up for Mouad. Mouad, let’s hear you. What side of the wall do you want, Mouad? What side of the wall would you like to go to? You know, I’ll take this side. He said he’ll take this side. Guys, let’s go get strapped up! [music] All right friends, they’re all strapped up and ready to go. Trent, are you ready over here, with the
Red Team? I’m ready to go. Let’s hit it! All right! Is the Black Team ready for Mouad? [crowd cheering] All right participants.. on your mark, get set, [air horn blown to signify start] [crowd cheering] [music] All right, Trent. Wow. [music] Wow, Trent. Natalie, what are you thinking? Mouad has got a lead. He does, he does. He is taller though, you know? Is he going to fall? No, he’s fine! OH! Mouad is slowing down, here. I don’t know what’s going to happen. Come on, Trent! Oh, Mouad lost his footing. There’s a little one on his right. Yeah, Mouad is struggling right now. Yeah, he is. He is, but he’s using that other wall – an advantage for him. Trent’s coming. It looks like Trent might have it. You know, he’s on that incline. Yeah, that’s scary. Oh Mouad, is lost. He doesn’t know what to do right now. [crowd cheering] Hey, Trent’s going to have a difficult time getting all the way up. Yeah, Mouad… Yeah, there you go, man! He’s going. He’s going all the way. Mouad does not know what to do. [crowd cheering] OH! Trent is almost there! Come on, Trent! Oh man, you are almost there. [air horn signifying Trent’s completion] ..and the Red Team wins! Red Team wins, y’all! [music] Wow. [music] Trent with the Red Team, is the winner! Trent, how are you feeling man? A little tired, but you know, like I said, I’m going to him go get some cobbler, re-energize my strength, be ready to do it again tomorrow. Absolutely! Now, let’s talk about that – that one rock that, where you just went out, and swung.Tell us a little about that experience, when you get out there. It was a little slippery. It was like walking down the creek, and uhh you hitting a slippery moss rock, and you know, you kind of slip a little bit. That’s what is was like and I swung out a little bit, but uhh I recovered pretty good. Wow. You – you did indeed, because we’re looking at the winner, friends. We’re looking at the winner. Now Mouad, take us – I, I know you didn’t get it this time, but take us through that experience. How was it for you? Man, it was terrifying, to be honest. I tried. You know, I guess ‘Mother Nature’ failed me this time. Trent, I guess, he was just lucky, but I’ll challenge him any time. Absolutely. Uhh but, thank you. Thank you. Absolutely. We appreciate you guys and y’all, the challenges are not over. This is just one of a few more. So, stay tuned. “OMG!” I’m like SO excited. If I can run out to my sister’s on Bid Day, I can do absolutely anything! By my calculations, with the velocity and speed needed for this challenge, I definitely have the mind stability to push myself to incredible heights. We’re now on the second floor and we’re getting ready for our “Indoor Track Race Challenge.” I’m here with – You don’t know my name? It’s Abbygail. Abbygail, from the Red Team. How do you feel about this challenge? I mean, your team won the first challenge, So, how do you feel about this one? I know the Red Team is going to win, again. If I can run down the hill in front of the TMB on Bid Day, I can win a little race. All right, well it sounds like she’s pretty confident. Let’s see what the Black Team has. I’m here with Marysa from the Black Team and she is just ready to go. Now, despite the loss from the first challenge, how do you feel about coming back on this one? You know, well Carson, um I’m really excited. Based on my GPA and my calculations, I think I have a good chance of winning this one. So, I’m ready. I’m excited. She’s ready. Her brain – it’s all in it, she’s all in it. I’m excited. Super excited – gears are working. [crowd cheering] All right Gamecocks, now there’s nothing wrong with a little friendly competition up here, on the track. Ladies, are you ready? SET GOOO! [air horn signifying start] [crowd cheering] [music] The winner of the second challenge is the Black Team! [cheering] Let’s go to Carson to find out what our third, and final challenge is. [cheering] Dude, I legit have never lost to any other gamer. I mean, you could almost call me a legend. You have to have fast hands when you’re in a basketball shootout. No basketball or opponent, stand a chance around me. Basketball is pretty much my outlet. I’ve been playing ever since I was little. If I could play with two basketballs, I would. You know, it’d would make it more difficult for myself, or maybe put my hand behind my back. They won’t let me do that, so I’m just here for the competition. Just trying to have some fun. We’ll see how it goes from there. Our final challenge is, the “J-S-U Basketball Shootout.” Two participants are going to compete in this competition and if you miss a shot, and spell out “J-S-U” first, that is the loser of this competition. Let’s go down to Natalie, on the court, with our two contestants. [music] I’m down here with Richie and Britton, and we’re getting ready for our final challenge. How do you feel about this? Well you know Natalie, if I can play 2K on PS4, I’ve got this. I’m good. How do you feel about this? Well, let’s just put it this way, I’m the best there is. Shooter’s shoot. I can say, we’re about to take it home Black Team! Yeah!! [cheering] So, we’re going to play “rock-paper-scissors,” to see who shoots first. Ready.. 1, 2, 3. Ohhh, here we go. All right, here we go. One, two, three. [air horn signifying start] [music] That’s pretty far away! All right, that’s all right. Just a little warm up. You know, that one has a form. We better move out of the way, here. [cheering] You’d think was an actual basketball game. It’s just a game of J-S-U. Oh my goodness. Come on Richie, you’ve got this! Aw man, nope. Not quite there. Here we go, Britton. [cheering] Ohh, that’s a “J.” That’s a “J.” All right now, Britton! [cheering] Ohh, he’s got it He’s got one! Oh he’s going out, almost a 3-pointer. WOAH, yeah! [cheering] We are so glad that you won, and Black Team, is the winner for this Cocky TV episode. I’m telling you what. How’s it feel? It feels good. It feels good. Good to have the crowd, the dude doing the back flip, that’s pretty cool. It’s crazy man. Yeah! Thank you so much to all the participants in this Cocky TV episode. Also, thank you so much to the Rec Center for us using their facilities. We’re so thankful! From our Cocky TV crew, and the “Friendliest Campus in the South,” I’m Natalie, and I’m Carson. Go Gamecocks! Do you guys – what do you guys think about this.. I’ll go “blop,” and and then I’ll be like, “oh yeah, I’m so stoked about this challenge, man” Dude, I just never lost to any other gamer. I mean, you can almost call me a legend. You have to have fast hands [messes up words] “blue blue” basketball shootout. [laughing] Okay, okay I can’t do it.
