It’s summer in the City of Kingston and
there’s no better time to enjoy everything the city has to offer.
Tomlinson Aqua Park is always a great place to cool off. Of course there’s the water
slide, but there’s fun for everyone with a toddler and lap pool, diving board and my
personal favourite – the lazy river where you let the water do all the work.
Splash pads around the City are now open! Look for new splash pads at Woodbine and Molly
McGlynn Parks and watch for construction starting on a new splash pad and sports courts at Victoria
Park. At INVISTA Centre, construction is underway
on an IAAF Throwing Field for javelin, hammer and discus events. Take advantage of reduced
rental rates for turf fields for 2016. Relax and enjoy Kingston by boat. Rent a slip
at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour or Confederation Basin Marina. Just steps from City Hall and
Springer Market Square, it’s a great getaway in the heart of the city.
Come out and play a round of golf at Belle Park. New for this year are weekday memberships
for seniors, adults and even the driving range. Check out the redesigned fourth and fifth
holes. And on week days it’s only seventeen seventy-five to play nine holes.
Stay active this summer! Learn a new hobby or sport by registering for a summer program.
Play a round of tennis, badminton or pickleball. Court improvements throughout the city make
getting fit fun! The Neighbourhood Park Program offers free
activities for all ages all summer long. Drop in for kid-friendly crafts and games or low-impact
fitness classes. On July First, celebrate Canada Day with family-friendly
fun at Grass Creek Park and Confederation Basin. Catch the Red and White Parade as it
heads down Princess Street and don’t forget the fireworks at Confederation Basin.
This year’s Kingston Sheep Dog Trials Festival will be held August fifth to seventh at Grass
Creek Park. Enjoy Music in the Garden on Sunday and Wednesday
evenings throughout the summer at Lions Civic Garden, just behind the Cataraqui Mall.
Don’t forget to submit or vote for your favourite garden in Kingston Blooms.
We are proud to be recognized as a Youth-Friendly Community by Play Works. Youth in the City
of Kingston can enjoy our Grade 5 and 9 Activpass Program and other programs designed to keep
youth engaged. Get out and enjoy summer in the City of Kingston!
