Hi Joan, how are you? Hi I’m good how are you? I’m Willy from the Free Press, I’m doing great. So wow what a beautiful spot. You’ve got shimmering blue water over here, an amazing historic barn that’s all done up here, surrounded by beautiful RV’s everywhere. What is this place?
This is an RV and park model community just outside of Steinbach and 45 minutes
south east of Winnipeg. Wow! But dynamite, like this is upscale stuff here. This is
not the campground at a provincial park this is
this is the real deal right here right. So this is beautiful living at its
finest right here. How many people are here? How many sites do you have? 136 sites in
total and we’re adding another 41 which are going to be for season, so it’s going
to be a full 177 site. The biggest thing with these lots is that they are going to be for season just like a cottage would be and so we see the demand for it
to the future people will be able to come and go any time of the year and
have access to them. That’s the big thing. They could live here if they chose to. They
could, yeah. And will you have people that? Absolutely, yeah. How did you discover this? Well we moved out into the country we saw the gravel pits around. We actually started building Quarry Oaks Golf Course. Oh, so you built Quarry Oaks Golf Course as well? Yes, my husband. And while we were doing that we saw this property and so we went for walks and we discovered a gem hidden away here and we started
with a dream. We wanted this place! When I grew up my parents would take me swimming to the local gravel pits and that’s where we would have a picnic and
we would go swimming and that would be your place. And then on the weekends we would
maybe go to the lake. This is sort of building on that kind of a tradition. A little more formal, like you’ve set it up for people. But people from Steinbach, I mean,
they can come here every night. They can come after work. Yep.
They can come here and they can enjoy the whole summer. We have lots of golf. Lots of golf courses all over. Of course theres the beach
there’s the dock lots of visiting going on. Biking, walking, hiking, people take
their dogs for a walk. We’re adding the dog park and some
walking trails in the other 40 acres across the creek. What’s this structure
here all about? You’ve got a barn here? This was here originally? This was the
original barn that was built in 1945. We renovated it and right now we’re using
it for a clubhouse. When you first came here did you have a vision that you could turn into a cool place like this? Very much so, yeah. Only its way, way better than I would have ever imagined. My husband and my two sons got together and they totally renovated this place into a beautiful spot. I’d like to live right in this barn. I know, we’ve often said that too. I mean it certainly doesn’t feel like
we’re right next to the city now of Steinbach. No, you feel like you’re way
out in the in the country. You’re living a country life. Country
friendly, city convenient. Well, you’ve already got me thinking how me and the misses are going to find a way to get out here. Fantastic, we’d love to have you.
Yeah, it’s beautiful.
