Camping With Friends @ Kansas Cimarron Grasslands

Camping With Friends @ Kansas Cimarron Grasslands

and good morning everybody from Kansas
that’s right just inside Kansas and Elkhart Kansas I got here before Jason
and Candace got here so I’m kind of scoping it out nothing going on yet this
is the Cottonwood picnic area in the Cimarron recreation area
Simran Kimmy run shimmer oon no idea but it’s a National Grassland area with some
off-road stuff see Jason and Candace from camping with the Kelly’s they have
a different app that they use for finding campgrounds because they’ve got
the razor and he’s got the the dual-sport there they use a rider planet
and this one showed up it is a paid campground but it looks like I am in the
wrong spot because the legend here shows where the campgrounds are so if I’m at
Cottonwood campground it is no longer a campground so the site is wrong there’s
no camping here it’s just a picnic area however summer and Recreation Areas
camping up here and this is a dirt road a dirt road that I’m not too excited
about taking Miranda on but hey the camping is good this is a very strange
playground oh my gosh it’s week got a hold the camera with two hands
doesn’t fly out of my hands well this is a weird table look at these Cheers
that’s strange no snakes no snakes no snakes look at this little rusty plow
they have on display here eater done one more thing I want to go
check is this water spigot over here sieving score some water so these are
the picnic areas and I noticed this when I came in what do you think what do you
think nothing nada yeah I wasn’t really holding out hope let me take this four
or five mile dirt road really slow and see if I can find a stamp right so this is what we got here
in Elkhart $7.00 a night camping I’m trying to find out what’s going on
because the Box doesn’t have any federal registration slips these are state
workers working Kansas State workers they contacted the federal office in
Elkhart there’s nobody there working today so for right now you can’t pay the
$7 but I’m also wondering if the america the beautiful’ pass covers it because
this is National Grasslands non National Park I do have some information that I
still need to gather and I think Jason and Candice can park next to me here
because they can pull up and back in this way I tried to plan that as best as
possible but we got some vault toilets there oh and I got a little pond water
front area here supposedly there might be some fish in there too and I can
already see it dripping so I know come on come on come on there we go and it
doesn’t say potable drinking water on it but it doesn’t say not drinking water so
I’m going with that’s verified plus it’s blue
I think I’ll top off on the way out all right curiosity has the best of me let’s
peek in here and see how nice or not nice these are it’s your standard vault
toilet with no okay and there’s garbage cans provided so I think that’s why this
place you know looks really clean and everything Jason’s about a half hour out
I told him about the graded road nothing you can do about it and again not
complaining but that four mile graded Road took me 25 minutes to get down and it was like I fell it but my teeth
are gonna fall out no I’m gonna go inside it’s too windy oh
yeah is that how you do it is that how you do life
you like our view Jax look at the water well waterfront well pawn front which
also reminds me I’m gonna dig out those tiki torches cuz I’ll bet you here even
in April I’ll bet you those GATS I’m gonna be crazy out there yeah I guess
what no rattle from the inside change this
and bolted it down no sound at all his bowls are now making a sound nose I
guess you could just go through this forever and just always find sounds that
rattle and make noise it’s funny because it never bothered me and Yoda but the
you know that’s great for a house and as I make a lot of sense for an RV so we’re
gonna get your new bolts okay oh you seem terribly concerned about it okay
all right we got to come here we got a testy nose combination a pizza
you like to do spaghetti and meatballs chicken patties or some tater tots cuz
I’m not a tater hater you shouldn’t be either
well there’s Jason and Candace rolling in with the mother ship there all right so that’s the tight squeeze
right there he made that look a lot easier and then
backing up like a boss you didn’t even get out of the RV to look let’s say he’s
been doing this a while yeah so Jason and Candice made it
they’re on their way back to Missouri I believe and they they invited me to ride
the TWU 200 there and take the razor out tomorrow so that could be fun that could
be awesome if we might even have a really good sunset here out on the
little pond here my closest neighbor over here in the pop-up truck camper
said he caught 8 perch out here in this there’s a river lake that feeds into
this overflow pond it’s not a stocked or anything but yeah we’re in Kansas I
currently do not have a Kansas freshwater fishing license and I don’t
plan to get one because my next stop will be in another new state yeah I feel
like I’m moving fast but honestly I’m really not so let me hop up on the roof
real quick hey they’re forecasting something other than 70 mile-per-hour
gusts the wind somewhere not here not kidding that
lucky here up on the roof in order for me to get any Wi-Fi because I don’t have
a booster like I gave it away with Yoda I’ve got my hotspot and a little
portable Bank charger up here on the batwing antenna to get me a little
higher that’s the only way I can get any Internet service out here and I can’t
string YouTube but I can get service or maybe this is high enough that it’s
tapping into Jason’s booster either way Verizon works great out here
AT&T not so much on the solar panels I forgot to show you something else that
Wayne added that is really awesome so on the front of each set of panels is
an aluminum piece of L bracket that deflects the wind from catching
underneath okay so this is really important because I’ve lost a panel
before I will link something up top for you for fun but yeah that will help win
not get under this panel section and then same thing on this other
section over here just something to help deflect wind from getting under there I
am just so exhausted by the high winds like okay it’s better than it being 85
degrees all the time and no wind but it just never ends in the Midwest so yeah I have not been filming as much
as I normally would have today because I’ve been hanging out with my friends
Jason and Candice of camping with the Kelly’s so it’s been fun
we were watching Netflix we watched a movie over in their RV and now I’m
hanging out with mr. Jack’s me on he’s been crying why did you leave me
actually you may see over on Jason’s channel Jack’s invited himself into
their RV and saw their cat Chloe which is a fluffier skinnier version of Jack’s
and there’s a little bit of hissing and and cattitude going on it’s all good but
anyway I’ve obviously not been filming like they normally film because I’ve
been hanging out with friends so but still if we take the bikes out tomorrow
I will or the next day well I’ll film some free gas so take care from Jax and
I see you soon I guess you

Hey buddy I told you not to drive around with your water tank full Fill up at the closest place before you get to your designation. Leave empty save the gas mileage dude. Second of all I have a 2003 class A. In my shit donโ€™t rattle. And I have a wife and we are loaded. Absolutely beautiful Eric. I love it. So glad you and Jax have Miranda. You deserve it.
    Amazing camp ground. Amazing.

  • Cherie Stelzer says:

I really liked those picnic table chairs. Think they were tractor seats. Since you have Netflix have you seen โ€œThe Highwaymen โ€œ with Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson ?? Really good.

  • We travel with two cats..for Jax's food bowl they make a stand with those type of bowls but the bowls have a rubber ring around them so you don't get the noise, works great. We also have for long travel days we use the cat bowls that have a rubber non slip mat that they sit in so then they wont slide around while driving.

When you decide to downsize go for a 4×4 class C! I'm thinking very hard about a 4×4 setup along with the Toad that is a 4×4! But to be able to actually get off road that's how to do it!!
And oh yes I'll have a nice wind turbine!

  • There is a old saying in Kansas for the wind. "Why do the trees in Kansas lean North? Because Oklahoma blows and Nebraska sucks."

go to the doller store and buy the dish drying mats … put it the cats dish…. what I do for 3 dogs ….

  • Art Sub Lessons says:

Glad you got to spend time with friends. Interesting video. Your videos are always the first ones I look for .

  • You can put some large rubber bands on Jax's bowls just under the rim, so you won't see them and you won't have to buy new bowls. That was a windy place!!

  • I'm from San Diego, 55 year native, so I've done plenty of beaches, desert, and central Sierra vacations. Other than that, I think my favorite terrain in USA is where you originated from, Pacific Northwest especially west Washington (been there once two years ago). Also hope to explore Canada, Idaho, Montana someday. What's your favorite terrain so far? Let me guess, Florida?

  • Jerry Ericsson says:

Indeed, my ass sat on those a LOT when i was a kid on the farm, the table made from a tractor steel lug wheel and that "plow" was in actuality the remnants of an old steam engine. That rough road is commonly known across the Midwest as washboard roads, the results of the freeze/thaw action in conjunction with a maintainer that didn't have his bade set properly when he reworked the road after the winter thaw. Some of them are so bad that you can't go over 2 MPH in an RV. We followed one of those back 12 miles into the woods around Yellowstone National Park, only to find the campground full so we had to return the same 12 miles shook my poor rig nearly to pieces.

  • I've been watching your videos for a few months now – subscriber… Question – where did you get your cat's harness, and what harness is it specifically? We have an overweight kitty and getting ourselves prepared to take the RV full-time leap in the near future.
    Thanks in advance!

  • You could put plastic bowls between the base and the metal bowls to stop the clanking but still be able to use the metal bowls which are better for Jax

  • HandCrafter Maggie says:

Eric it's so strange, I noticed the subscribe button was on but I was subscribed way back at least a year ago, maybe longer; I don't know how I managed to get unsubscribed but I subscribed again the other day, and just had same thing happen on CVK's channel. I wonder if any other followers have noticed being unsubscribed?

  • Love your vids but as soon as you start filming with that shaky, poor quality camera (around 9:59), I have to turn it off. I know you said you were going to start using that carmera more but I really hope you don't. It will lessen the quality of your channel.

  • Not all of the Midwest is windy all the time like what you were experiencing there are calm days as well in other places!

  • wow, this video really sucks! you get none of the beautiful area cause it's fast forwarded and drowned out with music, and all of the smart ass inane chatter of this idiot…

  • Suggestion for a cheap fix for Jaxโ€™s bowls. Get some fuel line, or other small rubber hose, cut a slit in in lengthwise as line the frame of the bowl in that, that should fix your rattle issue

  • Susan Strickland says:

Nice spot, and country camping decor they have there. Jax gets the best spot , lol. Good to hang with friends. Nice sunset. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

  • William Brancati says:

That's the thing that surprises everyone from the coasts. The wind is unrelentingly and strong on the plains. Makes it hard to drive, pushing me RVs all over the place.

  • Glad you were able to meet up with Jason and Candace. I subscribe to their channel also. They seem like such a sweet couple, and as always Jax is such a sweetheart!

  • Selena Kindall says:

What area besides Cimmaron did you come through? Welcome to the windy, Great Plains. The wind is nasty then we have days of beautiful calm… I could have hooked you up with some awesome sites. Kansas native.

  • Eric, are you still going to be on the PBS TV show about RV Life? Mortons on the Move and Technomadia are going to be on the show.

  • We had a similar setup with the swings from old tractor seats, they don't blow apart and away when winds/tornadoes come passing thru. the wind will be there everyday get used to it or just hate it.

  • nancy macintyre says:

awesome weather for some kite flying you should buy a kite there fun and with all that wind that would be a nice time well safe travels nancy

  • Please consider adding one scene introducing your friends in future videos just a hello it seems strained when you avoid showing, I have noticed this on several of your videos with guests. I like your vids just a suggestion. I watch you all the time very entertaining.

  • Wake Up Idiots NOW says:

Native Indian name Kanza which means โ€œpeople of the south windโ€, as predominant winds in Kansas are almost always from the south, and trees on the high plains grow leaning to the north. Thatโ€™s why the state tree of Kansas is the telephone pole, haha! (Cottonwood)

  • elizabeth green says:

That gave me a good feel for what it's like out on the prairies there (yes, I knew it was flat and windy, but it's good to see it and hear it like this). Don't know if it's just me(?), but I so much prefer this normal day-to-day life and nature stuff, and theย town and cityย tours,ย to any Disney and quirky. Thanks Eric!

  • Benjamin Raaphorst says:

Hi Eric and Jax I have not seen your videos for months ,you have a new rv and Jax is getting big, I want to know what kind of rv the Kelly's have because I love it , kiss to Jax and I hope to hear from you soon thank you and greetings from Benjamin from Holland ๐Ÿ‘‹

  • REVEREND DAVID HAMM says:

Hi Eric great video You don't have to exchange bowls just need to put a rubber seal around Jax's bowl's and it will stop the rattling
