Bull City Today – Sept 9, 2019 (ep. 680) Recreation Center Renovations

Renovations on the Weaver Street and WD Hill
Recreation Centers are in the works. The City Council approved spending 165-thousand
dollars for a design contract for both projects. The Weaver Street Center renovations will
include the replacement of the roof, basketball goals, bleachers, flooring, and windows. It will also include renovation of the kitchen
and a new opening between the gym and the administrative office to improve visibility. The WD Hill Center project will include the
replacement of the roof, bleachers and movable partitions as well as repairing the gym floor
and replacing the HVAC system in the senior center. The project will also include ways to improve
security, including exploring changes to the front entrance to make it better protected
while still being inviting to visitors. The projects are expected to be
completed in the winter of 2021. For more on all of Durham’s recreation centers,
