Big Foot High School – “Why Big Foot”


[intro music] From a Potawatomi chief to a high school, Big Foot has established itself into an academic and athletic institution in Walworth, Wisconsin. Big Foot High School has approximately five hundred students in attendance, coming from its seven individual municipalities in the Walworth surrounding areas of Geneva Lake. Bigfoot is one of the 10 union high schools in the state, and is recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Public
Instruction, as both a highschool and an independent 9 through 12 grade district. The school has its own school board and its own district administration that collaborate with its elementary schools- Fontana, Reek, Sharon, and Walworth. All five schools combine to form BFASA, otherwise known as the Big Foot Area Schools Association. Big Foot acquired its name from a
Potawatomi Indian chief back in 1836, when the chief lived alongside the lake until he was unfortunately forced to relocate. In remembrance of the chief, the city decided to grant him the name of the high school to allow for his name
to last the tests of time. Big Foot’s student body collectively creates a high quality division four athletic and academic institution that is institution that is extremely involved with its encompassing community. The school has not only earned its right to say that is a force to be reckoned with for its multiple conference championship awards in a wide array of sports, but it is also a long-lasting establishment because it strives to enrich its residents lives through recreation and high quality learning within its communities through the help of the Big Foot Recreation District that is made up of instructors and members of the community. They’re experts in their specified subject areas. There’s absolutely no reason not to entrust your faith in such a welcoming and warming community of talent and proficient teachers, students, employees, and administrators that Big Foot High School so heavily relies onto make the city, and community of Walworth one that you can envision yourself spending a long-lasting future in.
