Athletics & Recreation @ UTSC – Anyone can be an athlete


[ Music ]>>I would say they should get involved because they’re our only benefits. There are no losses in being physically active or getting involved with the athletics and recreation program.>>I don’t know. Basketball just make you really happy. Like, I love playing this sport, and I really enjoy playing this sport. I don’t think I would enjoy my time here at UTSC if I didn’t have basketball nor if I didn’t have [inaudible] recreation community, I don’t really think I can imagine my life without it.>>So, the entire purpose of the outreach program is to promote all of the activities that athletics has to offer. But it’s not only sports, it’s about the group fitness activities, it’s about the aquatics events, it’s about rock climbing. It’s about the running club which is sneaker squad. It’s about the other Move View [assumed spelling] event that we have it’s by nutrition and fitness.>>And it’s a program that takes students out of their comfort zone and we go on different trips throughout the year. So, this summer we went on horseback riding. We did tree top trekking. We did kayaking, canoeing, Whitewater rafting. So, all these different thrilling activities that people can do and learn a bit more about themselves and about other people around them.>>I think being physically active helps you mentally, helps you physically to stay positive, stay in a good routine that will benefit you not just now but in the future as well.>>I totally think that other students should get involved in all the rec because they’re honestly just so much fun. When going on these outdoor events, you combine fun, excite, and physical endurance, so I get a workout and I have fun the same time.>>The main thing that I want to say is that it’s a really, really fun sport. And I’ve seen it make a difference in my life. It’s nice to have a passion. Anyone can be an athlete.>>Everyone’s an athlete.>>And don’t forget. Anyone can be an athlete. [ Music ]
