A Sun Valley homecoming

A Sun Valley homecoming

– All right! Welcome to Sun Valley! One of my favorite places in the world! My name is Cody Doucette,
and this is my beautiful wife, Katie. We both grew up here, and
then moved away after college. Now we’re getting to come
back and see it with a new set of eyes. (soothing music) (soothing music) (soothing music) (soothing music) – There’s really nothing
like skiing Baldy for me. Everyday I’m up there,
it’s a bit of deja vu mixed with the thrill of new experience. Smell of the air, the views,
they just never get old. The smiles, the laughter,
getting to spend it with my wife and friends. It’s just one of the
happiest places on Earth. (soothing music) (soothing music) (soothing music) (soothing music) – Ahh that’s so fun dude! – There is really something
about a ski-town bar, in the energy that is in
that place after a good day on the mountain. It doesn’t exist in anything
else, or anywhere else. – Apple’s has always
been a part of my life. Both Cody and I have
worked here over the years. It’s definitely my favorite
apres bar in a town. We even had our wedding reception here. That’s how much I love it! (soothing music) – Cheers! (soothing music) – Snow shoeing isn’t something
I ever did growing up here, but as a visitor coming
home it’s one of my favorite things to do. – And it’s this kind of
idea of fresh experiences, and a familiar place
that has brought us back here to Sun Valley, consistently. – Within a matter of minutes,
you can be all by yourself, just surrounded by you and the mountains. Incredible scenery. It’s really something special. – So, last night we went to
the Boulder Mountain yurt. It was a really beautiful hike in. We had a lovely dinner. There was nice fires
going, all hot and warm. We had some friends gathering. Sharing time with each other, in a place in the mountains like that. It was just a really
great ambience when you walked in. (upbeat music) – Yeah, Nick! Good to see you, brother! Welcome to Sun Valley! Glad you made it! – One of this things that
always makes Sun Valley so incredible, is the
access to the back country. It was incredible to see
when we first got out on the snow mobiles. It was snowing. The clouds were socked
in, and then if on que, the storm sort of blew through, the clouds opened up, and we were
treated to a sunset in the Bolder Mountains that I’ll never forget! (upbeat music) – Being able to take my buddy, Nic up there who had never spent anytime on a snow mobile or really much
time in the back country, just an incredible experience. (calming music) (calming music) – This town of Sun
Valley and the mountains that surround it are a
special place to both Katie and I, but also anybody
who’s fortunate enough to be a visitor or spend time in them. The accessibility in the
amount of recreation nearby is truly spectacular. So great to see the
town growing, expanding, more energy, more people coming. But the thing that brings everybody in, and what never changes,
are these mountains. They continue to inspire
awe and wonder in everyone who is fortunate enough
to spend time in them. Everything from riding the
resort, on skis and a snowboard, to ice skating, back country
skiing, snow snowmobiling. All these things so close, so accessible. Really a unique place, and
there’s no better place to celebrate life and love,
than here in the mountains of Idaho in Sun Valley. (soothing music)
