– [Reacher] From micro to mini campers and maybe just a bit bigger. Sometimes, it’s the lack
of size that matters. This is Reacher and
here are 10 mini campers and camper vans for those summer getaways. (bouncy, bass thumping beat) – [Cassie] Number 10. (exciting paino music) – [Reacher] The days of
needing a big vehicle to pull your camper are long
gone due to the number of companies marketing small campers. This first entry on our list
is no exception to that rule with its 18 foot length and
dry weight of 1,850 pounds. The compact size allows it to be stored away in most standard home garages, while the fold down design
makes for easy towing. Once onsite, the living space is doubled by the electrically
controlled popup A-frame. Dormers at the front and rear add even more overhead space, as
well as natural light from the added windows and skylights. The increased height of
the sidewalls provides more usable space for interior
which allows the cabinets and countertops to be higher for
a more comfortable experience. An 85 liter mini fridge, a microwave and a flush-mounted sink
and dual burner cooktop complete the kitchen area. An outside shower comes standard with the option of an enclosed wet bath. Bench seating in the rear
converts to a queen size bed, while the dinette area can
convert to a twin bed, if needed. Pricing for this one will

idea of back to basics camping, but don’t want to sleep
in a tent, then this entry may be just the
one you’re looking for. A door on each side provides
access to the interior, which has just enough
room for a queen size bed with plenty of overhead
storage at each end. An AM/FM Bluetooth
stereo system with indoor and outdoor speakers comes
standard with optional hookups for satellite,
cable and solar power. A low profile roof mounted
AC unit, a manual awning and mounts for outdoor
gear can be added as well. A large hatch in the rear
raises to provide access to a full outdoor kitchen which
contains a microwave oven, a mini fridge, a sink, and a
single burner cooktop/grill combo which can be mounted
on the side when needed. Pricing on this one
starts at around $9,000. – [Cassie] Number eight. – [Reacher] This handy
little camper from Japanese company AZ-MAX may look
tiny but it’s got just about everything you’d
need for a camping trip and more than enough room to put it in. Built around a Mazda Scrum,
it has a 660 cc engine with either an automatic
or manual transmission, with a choice of two or four wheel drive. It measures just over 12
feet in length and just over five and a half feet in width, with a living area around 34
and a half square feet. A fold down platform over the cab and bench style seating
which converts to a bed provide room to sleep up to four people. Large sliding windows
on the sides and rear allow plenty of natural
light in addition to the LED lighting found
throughout the camper. Power is generated using a 100 watt solar array on top of the vehicle. Additional features
include a cassette stove, a small sink, and a removable
table in the dinette area. Pricing on this one will run you anywhere from $24,000 to $25,100. – [Cassie] Number seven. – [Reacher] This do it
yourself kit is the perfect camper for those who
crave the outdoors but don’t have the space to
store a camper year round. The ability to disassemble
it in about an hour using a screwdriver allows
the lightweight pieces to be stored away when not in use. The modular design allows
the structure to be assembled on most
smaller utility trailers, as well as onsite for use
as a semipermanent shelter. Although it only measures
about sex feet by eight and a half feet, there’s still plenty of interior space for the necessities such as a dinette table with
bench seating that converts to a double bed and a hand
pump sink with a water tank. There’s also a wall mounted AC unit and hanging storage compartments as well. Entrance to the camper
can be though either the double doors at the back
or a side door assembly. Multiple windows and ceiling
vents provide natural lighting and ventilation, if needed. Pricing for this one is
expected to be in the 3 to $4,000 range, with a

length of just over 17 feet and a width of just under
seven feet, this mini makes you wonder why they included
that word in the name at all. The interior offers just as
much as campers twice the size without sacrificing comfort or quality. A single side door opens up
to a kitchenette in the front which contains a flush
mounted dual burner cooktop, a sink with a detachable
sprayer, a microwave, and a 142 liter double door refrigerator. There’s also a fully
enclosed wet bath measuring just over seven and a half square feet which includes a pedal flush toilet and a waterproof toilet paper holder. And I’m betting you won’t find that last one in any luxury RVs. The dinette area has U-shape bench seating and a rotating table with
a hydraulic pedestal. This area can be converted
to either dual twin beds or a queen size bed. Five insulated dual pane windows, as well as a vertical stargazer window, open to an almost 90
degree angle to provide natural light and airflow, if needed. Pricing for this mini

right now I’ve gotta tell you about this next entry on our list. This model is the smallest in this line of camper vans at just
under 20 feet in length, with a width around seven and a half feet. A side door on the driver’s
side allows entry to the camper, which also opens to the cab area. Flexible seating arrangements
in the lounge area allow for split bench
or full bench seating on each side of the open walkway. The kitchenette includes a 138
liter slimline refrigerator, an oven with a three burner
cooktop, a microwave, and a flush mount sink
with a cutting board cover. In the rear is the
washroom, which contains a corner sink and vanity, an
electric flush cassette toilet, and a separate enclosed shower area. There’s room to sleep
up to four people using the bench seating and
the height adjustable drop down double bed
above the lounge area. Pricing on this one
starts at around $63,000. – [Cassie] Number four. – [Reacher] When I think about camping, I think of things like travel, adventure, and a cooler full of tasty beverages. “He’s talking about beer again.” And this next camper might be just what I need for all those things. It has a dry weight of only 900 pounds, making it light enough to be
towed by most smaller vehicles. On top of that, the use
of optional solar panels and a built in electrical
system that can store energy for up to seven days allows
for living off the grid whenever and wherever you drive. A large side hatch and a rear door open up to an area with an L-shaped bench seat, while also allowing
easy access for loading and unloading of any camping gear. The bench can convert to a queen size bed with additional sleeping room for two more adults in the optional roof top tent. A kitchen drawer pulls out from a hidden area under the bench
seat to provide five and a half square feet of counter space, along with two large
cubbies for added storage. Additional features include LED
lighting inside and outside, as well as 12 volt outlets
and USB charging ports. Pricing on this one starts around $24,000. – [Cassie] Number three. – [Reacher] Just from
looking at the simple curved design of this one
with its dual color scheme and belt rail LED lighting system, you might think it’s something
from the mind of Jony Ive. The camper itself has
an interior measuring 10 feet in length, with a
width of six and a half feet and a height of just over six feet. It sits on a trailer measuring
13 and a half feet in length, with an external aluminum
storage system in the front that slides out to provide
more than enough room for Aunt Edna on those long vacations. The rear houses a dinette area that has a table with U-shaped bench seating that converts to an extra bed, if needed. The kitchenette includes a
flush mounted dual burner cooktop, a mini fridge,
a stainless steel sink. The main sleeping area is housed
in the front of the cabin, which has options ranging
from bench seating that converts to a twin
bed to triple bunk beds. Pricing on the base package currently starts at just under $19,000. – [Cassie] Number two. – [Reacher] At first glance the teardrop shape of this one doesn’t stand out. But then you go inside
and you see bunk beds and your inner child screams,
“gotta have it!”. Obviously, that’s not how
the process actually goes, but bunk beds are cool,
so let me have my moment. The slide out houses the kitchen area, which has a microwave that sits above a 105 liter refrigerator. Next to that is a large
counter top that contains a recessed dual burner cook
top with a flush mounted cover, as well as an under mount
sink having a seamless cover to increase the workspace, if needed. Across from that is a
fully enclosed wet bath with an integrated toilet and sink. The dinette area consists
of an adjustable table with U-shaped bench seating. The rear of the trailer
includes a large external hatch that raises to allow the
dinette area to be modified into a sleeping area with a queen size bed. A tent like covering can
be attached to this opening to provide protection from the elements. The previously mentioned bunk
beds are housed in the front of the camper and with each
being the size of a twin mattress, they’re able to
sleep both kids and adults. Starting prices on this one

cult status so it’s no surprise that when the
company decided to do a limited edition retro
design they chose this one. The exterior sports a dual color scheme, which is white on top and blue
on bottom with chrome details at the front and rear rounding
out the iconic styling. The color coordinated blue
accents contrast with the soft wood tones and white
upholstery to give the interior the feeling of a 1950’s beach side resort. The pop top roof raises the
head room to a height of almost six and a half feet giving
the camper the feeling of a space larger than it actually is. At the front is the dinette
area which has bench style seating that can seat up to four people at the fold down table. The kitchen features a 70
liter fridge/freezer, a sink, and a dual burner cooktop
with a flush mounted cover. The bathroom houses a wet bath
that includes a bench toilet, a large sink with a vanity,
and a removable faucet that serves as a handheld shower head. In addition to the dinette
area which can convert to a twin bed, there’s also a
queen size bed in the rear. Pricing on this one will

  • I enjoyed seeing all the options. I have an 87 Easy Up motorcycle camper…in excellent condition. They now sell for around $3400 but got mine used for $750! Pulls easy, very compact…less than 350 pounds, and is waterproof, basically a large tent on wheels. Pretty spartan, but I like that for camping, not being interested in taking it all with me! Ha ha. And can easily sleep 4 when needed.

    The teardrop world has exploded in the last couple of years. I feel like you chose some pretty random examples. The Barefoot (UK and Europe only) is also a great one for people to check out. The finishings are spectacular!

  • I think I'm too addicted to watching camper videos. I don't own one. But, the feeling of freedom and living rent free is so overwhelmingly kick ass !!!

  • Currently, have retired from RV life, cause of medical conditions/small retirement finances. Retirmenet funds have not met with the international financial index. SS Ins. is nothing, does not combat cost of living. Plus some genes, grow older faster; can not keep up with traveling.

    My favorite is a small TOY HAULER; because there's a lot of things you could do in the attached rear garage and if you don't get a fifth wheel toy hauler, just conventional toy hauler, you can always get a new TOW UNIT: ( Truck or SUV); not out a lot of money compared to the class A or Class C motorhomes. Any types of RV Trailers, is having a diversified RV portfolio. I ENJOY the garage portion, great protected garage- patio, plus some have bath tubs and frt kitchen in the floorplan. I hate galley kitchen, cause of traffic flow issues. Garage is great storage for toys, or thro in air mattress, great sleeping. Slide outs are okay, but just another problem, when least expected. Solar panels are must have, better then generator….

    Class A Motorhomes okay if you're going to be mobile, & have lot of bank accounts for infinity of repairs. . They're very expensive to maintain/ operate, they have a lot of toys on them, so be ready for breakdowns, warranties are useless. Accessories are known to break break break… If you wreck them, Ins. are very poor to pay out!! Not many mechanics really know how to work on them, expensive $$ beast. Good mechanics are working in union auto garages, not RV garages. Diesels are smelly, both around the patio and smells lurk in to the units interiors. I ditched my diesel, could not stand the smell of diesel around the coach.

    Class C motorhomes are very mobile to get around, sleeper over the cab is a waste of time : either too hot or too cold for good sleeping and if your senior, it's very risky getting in and out of there. Plus if there's two people sleeping up there, the frame over the cab really can't support much activity. Class C is more affordable, less toys on them compared to the Class A & the upkeep is considerable less, plus USA parks are designed to fit class C, not class A.

    I would prefer a truck frame chassis with a trailer attached to it, because if you don't like the truck frame chassis, always get another one, just remove the trailer, get a new Chev /Ford truck frame, and attach the trailer on to the frame.. Engines are up front, so repairs are much easier/ cheaper, cause of being accessible.

    I have: Class A, Trailer and Truck camper. Truck / SUV are the only two of all of the above mentioned units, which have Lemon Law Protections. RV in general, carry no help from the courts and RV warranties, are collection of A-Z products and not insured by one manufacturer. My trailer is great for long length stays in the desert, Class A is okay, but expensive for interstate traveling and my camper has over 500,000 miles on it, as this is my weekend RV and gets a lot of usage. Wish my camper had a Murphy Bed, hate the over head sleeper and most of the time, sleep on floor. Store my units on my property and visit them daily.

    SIDEBAR: Ageing, lack of finances, is not our friend for RV’s and traveling. Remember, RV’s are not loved by everyone, there is equal love/ hate for RV’s, as many call us trailer trash. Many cultures invading USA are not warm/fussy towards RV’s.

    Stellar boon-docking is great, when traveling day to day. Prefer to pay to park and received full hookups and use the unit, which is was intended for: FULL HOOKUPS. Remember, there is no LEMON LAW to protect RV units, so off road n boon-dock with caution, as the units are built very fragile & not intended for moon terrain walking. Snow n freezing temps, are not RV best friend, no matter how they are rated, they have no LEMON LAW protection against severe low temps. Remember, over night fees for RV camping can be pricey, some are reaching $100 ( PLUS) per night and more and more are privately owned w/ annual membership by prescription.

    Point of Interest, no RV was designed to travel: Snow, freezing temps and day after day rain/wind storms. Extreme weather quickly takes years off of the RV coach, there were not built for this abuse.

    Here is a question for all RV owners: Do you advertise your bank account finances to the world? Reply: No!!!. So why advertise the cost of your RV to the world: via fancy paint jobs, luxury tow units, luxury tow boats, chrome everything/ anything. RV’s who advertise their wealth, are only advertising to the nation, I have arrived in wealth and heck with your thoughts. Flashy RV’s ruin lifestyles for everyone. Stellar & non-monochromatic downplayed units, fit in everywhere and are less offensive to the nation, which do not have RV’s. We live in a country of extreme biases. Less is really more, when traveling and exploring USA.


    I belong to this free library, allows me to pick up books for free, anywhere in the USA and return to any location. Every city has this and is free and better then internet books. I have spent days in parking lots, using Wifi for free, when many stores and restaurants provide it for free. Now the little library, allows for national library, where ever anyone travels for free. RV’s don’t need TV/ IT/when we have free books at our disposal. Remember, some books, government archived shows, you tube, news, etc. can be download from IT for free, providing 100 hrs of viewing, anytime, anywhere, without IT connections.

  • All these look very cute. I followed one of these on the freeway, and because of their lightweight, the trailer started to wobble sideways in the wind, it took the pulling vehicle and the trailer upside down into the ditch. No one survived.

    5 is my favorite because it has a seperate enclosed shower and its all inside. I like that extended awning as well for a trip to the beach.

    It seems to me that anything requiring towing is not going to have people in it while moving. If this is so, then I would think that the whole trailer should be slide-out-able when settled in for a lengthy stay. The amount of increased space would be relatively huge.

    I would love to find out if there are some hard side campers that are your weekend warriors and are more for sleeping and a bathroom and a microwave. I saw a couple here that look like you could design them but would like to know from you what would be the top couple.

    That last one is way overpriced! My 35’ Springdale BH model cost me 30k out the door. If you go small, then you should expect less materials, thus lower pricing. How about a video of 16’ ft. Less than 15k trailers that can be pulled by small trucks or medium suvs?

  • Ouch … Expensive expensive ! A box that costs 20.000 +$ , I don't think so , I better stay home then paying these money to drive to the woods or mountains a box with king size bed.
